Mental Health Task Force
"The Civil Rights Movement of this decade is Mental Health Care quality and equality."
-- Updated March 12, 2006 --

The mission of this page is to keep you updated about Washington State's efforts to transform public mental health care. These efforts started with the historic 2004-2005 Washington State Mental Health Task Force created by the 2004 Washington State legislature. The task force completed its work and the latest efforts to evaluate public mental health care have been taken up by the Washington State Mental Health Transformation Work Group.

On December 9, 2005, the 32 members of the Transformation Work Group met in Olympia for the first time. The purpose of the meeting was to provide an overview of the grant and an orientation to this collaborative initiative. The Comprehensive Mental Health Plan is due to SAMHSA by September 30, 2006. The plan will be based on the work of subcommittees and task groups.

Many public meetings are planned. Please check the following Web site for more information on how to participate in the work associated with the federal Mental Health Transformation Grant.
